Regulations and Planning Permission
Over 95% of our installations do not require planning permission. However, in some conservation areas, planning consent may be required.
There are, subject to local council policy some basic planning issues to be aware of. Garden Timber Buildings, home offices and summerhouses should not generally be located closer that 5 metres from the rear of the house or be more than 4 metres high (our models are not!).
Buildings should not constitute more than 25% of the overall garden size and it is also generally advisable to allow 1 metre between the building garden border fencing etc and not take up more than 50% of the whole garden area.
The timber building. Log cabin or garden room must not be nearer to a highway than the nearest part of the original house, unless there would be at least 20 metres between the new building and any highway.
You would need to apply for planning permission if your house is a listed building and you want to put up a building of more than 10 cubic metres.
The above also may apply if you live in a Conservation area, a National park and your building would be more than 10 cubic metres in volume.
